Families: Complete an Alternate Income Form to Help Your School Maximize Its Funding

Dear Parents, Guardians and Families,

Thank you for being a part of a successful start to the 2020-2021 school year!  We truly appreciate your support of our students and schools.

The Annual Household Eligibility form (free meal program) is more important than you might think.

Normally, families complete a National School Lunch Program (NSLP) application to determine whether they qualify for free or reduced priced meals under the National School Lunch Program. Due to COVID-19, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued nationwide waivers to allow for the operation of the Summer Meal Program through June 20, 2021.  Even though meals are free for all students for this school year, we are asking you to please take a moment and fill out an Alternative Income Data Form. Under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), a portion of state funding will be determined based on the demographics of student population, with higher funding on a per student basis that have a large concentration of low income and English learners. By taking the time to fill out this form you are taking part in a process that provides thousands of dollars in funds to the school your student attends.

Our goal is to ensure that Lake Tahoe Unified School Districts’ students receive the maximum amount of funds that we are eligible to receive by encouraging our families to complete the Alternative Income Form. To receive the maximum amount, we must have 100% of eligible student/families complete the form.

By completing the form and turning it in as soon as possible, you will help our schools reach the goal of getting funds to support our students’ academic achievement, creating equitable learning environments, and building partnerships to develop leadership at all levels. Please do not complete the information if your student has been designated as Directly Certified or if you have completed an application for Free & Reduced meals this school year.

We appreciate your time.
